JPG, PNG, or WebP — picking the right one
JPG uses lossy compression tuned for photographs. It discards detail the eye is bad at noticing, which makes photos dramatically smaller, but it cannot store transparency and it degrades a little every time it is re-saved. Use it for photographs and anything camera-made.
PNG is lossless and supports transparency. Nothing is discarded, so it is the right choice for logos, screenshots, diagrams, and any image with sharp edges or flat colour — the exact content JPG turns into visible fuzz around text. The cost is size: a photograph saved as PNG is often five to ten times larger than the same photo as JPG.
WebP is the modern option and generally wins on size, typically 25–35% smaller than an equivalent JPG while also supporting transparency and lossless mode. Every current browser reads it. The catch is outside the browser: older desktop software, some upload forms, and a number of print workflows still reject it, which is why converting WebP back to JPG is a common need rather than a step backwards.
A practical default: WebP for your own website, JPG for anything you are sending to someone else or uploading to a form, and PNG whenever transparency or crisp text matters more than file size.

Is there a watermark on the images I download?
No. Nothing is added to any output, on any tool, at any usage level.
How much smaller will compression make my image?
Photographs typically drop 60–80% with no visible change, because they carry far more detail than a screen displays. Images that are already optimised, or flat graphics saved as PNG, have less to remove and will shrink less.
Does resizing reduce the quality?
Making an image smaller is safe and is the most effective way to reduce file size. Enlarging beyond the original dimensions cannot invent detail that was never captured, so it will look soft.
Can I combine several images into one PDF?
Yes. Image to PDF accepts multiple files at once and keeps them in the order you add them — the usual way to turn a set of scans or photographed pages into a single submittable document.
Are my photos kept on your servers?
No. Uploads are used only to produce your output and are deleted automatically once processing finishes. They are not stored, reviewed, or used for anything else.
