Questions
Does PPT to PDF conversion preserve my formatting?
Yes. The deck is rendered by LibreOffice on our server, so slide layouts, pictures, charts, tables and text positions come through as they are. Fonts the server does not have are replaced with close matches — see the engine question below.
What is the file size limit for PPT to PDF conversion?
Up to 25 MB per file — that is the server upload limit. A deck over that is nearly always over because of images or embedded video; run it through Compress PPT first, then convert.
Why send a PDF instead of the PPT file?
A PDF looks identical on every device — no missing fonts, no layout shifts, no 'repair this presentation' prompts, and the recipient does not need PowerPoint installed. For submissions, printing, and sharing finished decks, PDF is the safer format; keep the PPTX as your editable master.
What happens to animations and transitions in the PDF?
PDF is a static format, so animations, transitions, and embedded video do not carry over — each slide is exported as one clean page in its final state. If the deck relies on build-up animations, export it for presenting and share the PDF as the reading copy.
Which engine renders the PDF?
LibreOffice on the DocsBolt server. Fonts not installed there are substituted with metric-compatible equivalents; most decks render identically, but a deck built on an unusual display font is worth checking page by page.
Are speaker notes and hidden slides included?
No. The PDF contains the visible slides only, one per page, in their final state. Export notes pages from PowerPoint itself if you need them.
