Limitations

Ranges are page numbers, not bookmarks or chapters; the tool cannot detect where a section starts.
Each output file keeps the original page size and orientation, but bookmarks and form fields from the source are not carried over.
Encrypted PDFs must be unlocked first; a password-protected file cannot be split.

Questions

Do I need page ranges?

Yes — ranges define exactly where the document is cut. Entering 1-10, 11-25, 26-40 produces three files. If you only need one section, a single range like 12-18 works too; the rest of the document is simply not exported.

Why is the output a ZIP?

Because one split operation usually produces several PDFs, they are bundled into a single ZIP download. Unzip it and each range is its own correctly ordered PDF file.

Does splitting reduce quality or break links?

Page content is copied, not re-rendered — text, images, and formatting are identical to the original. Links that point to pages outside the extracted range will no longer have a destination, which is expected.

How do I extract just one page from a PDF?

Enter that single page as the range — 7-7 gives you page 7 as a standalone PDF. For picking multiple non-consecutive pages, the Extract Pages tool is built exactly for that.

What is the difference between Split PDF and Extract Pages?

Split divides the document by ranges and keeps everything you specify as separate files. Extract Pages is for cherry-picking specific pages into one new document. Splitting a book into chapters: Split. Grabbing pages 3, 9, and 14: Extract.

Can I split every N pages automatically?

Not directly — ranges are typed, for example 1-3, 4-6, 7-9. For a long document, typing the ranges is quick; each range becomes a file, and any pages you leave out are collected into one extra "rest" file so nothing is lost.

Is the PDF uploaded to split it?

No. The document is never uploaded; the new files and the ZIP you download are produced without it leaving your device.
