What Add Watermark does

Stamp text across every page of a PDF. In practice this is about status rather than decoration: marking a contract DRAFT so nobody signs the wrong version, labelling something CONFIDENTIAL before it circulates, or tagging a copy with a recipient's name so a leak can be traced back.

When you'd use it

  • Marking a proposal DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL before review
  • Putting a company name across sample pages
  • Labelling copies sent to different reviewers

Limitations

  • The watermark is drawn on top of the page content. It is not a security feature: anyone with an editor can remove it.
  • Text watermarks use Helvetica; non-Latin scripts (Devanagari, Chinese, Arabic) need an image watermark instead.
  • Image watermarks are limited to 5 MB and are placed at the same position on every page.

Questions

Can I add `Confidential` or `Draft` labels?

Yes. This tool applies text watermarks to every page.

Can I control opacity?

Yes. Use the optional opacity field to make the watermark lighter or stronger.

Does the watermark appear on every page?

Yes, it is applied uniformly across the document, which is what makes it useful for status marking — a single unmarked page is exactly the one that causes confusion later.

Can the watermark be taken off afterwards?

Not from the output. It is merged into the page content rather than layered on top. Keep the clean original if you will need an unmarked version.

Will it cover up the text underneath?

The mark is drawn so the underlying content remains readable. Short words like DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL work best; long sentences clutter the page.
