What Rotate Image does
Turn an image 90, 180 or 270 degrees. Photos taken on a phone held sideways often display upright in the gallery but appear rotated once uploaded elsewhere, because the viewer ignored the orientation flag stored in the file. Rotating rewrites the actual pixels, so the correction sticks wherever the image is opened.
Formats and limits
- Accepts

- Produces
- Rotated image
- Files per run
- One
- Size limit
- 200 MB per file
When you'd use it
- A phone photo that appears sideways on a computer
- A scanned page saved in landscape
- Turning a product shot the right way up
Limitations
- Rotation is in 90° steps. Straightening a tilted horizon needs an arbitrary-angle tool and a crop; this is not that.
- EXIF orientation is applied before rotating, so what you see is what you get, but the EXIF tag itself is not rewritten in the output.
Questions
What angles are supported?
90, 180, and 270 degrees clockwise.
Why is my photo upright on my phone but sideways on the website?
Phones record orientation as EXIF metadata rather than physically rotating the image. Some software honours that flag, some ignores it. Rotating here bakes the correction into the pixels so every viewer shows it the same way.
Can I rotate by an arbitrary angle like 5 degrees?
No — rotation is limited to 90, 180 and 270 degrees. Those are lossless quarter turns. Arbitrary angles require resampling and would leave blank wedges at the corners.
Does rotating shrink the image?
No. A 90 or 270 degree turn swaps width and height; a 180 degree turn keeps both. No pixels are discarded in any case.
