What Excel to PDF does

Turn a spreadsheet into a PDF. Sending an .xlsx invites the recipient to change it, and they will — a sorted column here, an accidental overwrite there — and then nobody knows which version is right. PDF freezes the figures at the moment you sent them, which is what a report or an invoice needs.

When you'd use it

  • A budget sheet for a board pack where nothing should change
  • Printing a schedule where long cell text must not be cut off
  • Sending a price list to someone who will never open Excel

Limitations

  • Each worksheet becomes a section with its own table; very wide sheets wrap cell text rather than shrinking the font, so column widths differ from Excel's print preview.
  • Charts, images and conditional-format colours are not carried into the PDF — cell values and basic fills are.
  • Formulas are exported as their last saved values; a workbook that was never recalculated shows stale numbers.

Questions

Does this work with standard Excel files?

Yes. The current input format is `.xlsx`.

Why use PDF here?

PDF is useful when you want a read-only shareable version of spreadsheet content.

Does this work with .xlsx?

Yes, standard .xlsx files are supported.

Will my wide table fit on the page?

Columns are fitted to the page width. Very wide sheets get tight, so hiding columns the reader does not need before converting produces a much more readable result.

Do formulas appear in the PDF?

No — their results do. The PDF shows what the spreadsheet displays, which is exactly what a reader wants to see.

Are charts included?

Charts and formatting are rendered as they appear in the sheet, so a report keeps its visual structure.
