What Split PPT does

Break a PowerPoint into separate files. Long decks get split for good reasons: sending one module to one audience, splitting a training deck into per-session files, or separating the sections that are ready to share from those still being worked on.

Each output deck is a full copy of the original with the unwanted slides removed, made on the server with python-pptx. Copying the whole file rather than extracting slides is what preserves the theme, slide masters, embedded fonts and any media each slide references — nothing is rebuilt, so nothing shifts. It also means every output carries the full master set, so three files from a 30-slide deck can add up to more than the original.

Ranges are slide positions ("1-5,9"); a hidden slide still counts. Slides not covered by any range go into a final "rest" file so nothing is lost. Sections defined in PowerPoint's section pane are not used to split — list the slide numbers instead.

Limitations

Splitting removes the slides outside your range from a copy of the deck, so each output keeps the full theme and masters — files are larger than the slide count alone would suggest.
Ranges are slide numbers; sections are not recognised.
