Why convert from WebP?

Some tools don't support WebP yet. JPG works everywhere.

Why won't the site accept my WebP file?

Plenty of upload forms validate against a fixed list of extensions that predates WebP. The file is perfectly valid; the form simply does not recognise it. Converting to JPEG sidesteps the check.

Will the JPEG be lower quality?

There is a small loss, since one lossy format is being decoded and re-encoded into another. At normal viewing size it is very hard to see, but keep the WebP if you may need to convert again later.

What happens to transparent areas?

JPEG cannot store transparency, so any transparent region becomes solid — usually white. If transparency matters, convert to PNG instead.
