What PDF to JPG does

Convert PDF pages into JPEG images. The typical case is needing one page out of a document as a picture — a certificate to attach to a profile, a diagram to drop into a deck, or a page to post where PDFs simply do not preview. JPEG is the format nearly every platform accepts without argument.

Limitations

Each page is rendered to a bitmap at the resolution you choose; text becomes pixels, so the JPGs are not searchable or editable.
JPEG compression softens sharp edges. For crisp line-art or text at small sizes, use PDF to PNG instead.
Very long PDFs (hundreds of pages) are limited by your device's memory rather than by an upload cap.

Questions

Do I get one image per page?

Yes. Multi-page PDFs are returned as separate JPG files inside a ZIP archive.

Can I choose only some pages?

Yes. You can optionally set a page range before conversion.

Should I choose JPG or PNG for this?

JPEG gives smaller files and suits pages that are mostly photographs. PNG keeps text and fine lines sharper. For a page dense with small type, PNG is the better choice.

Can I convert just one page?

Extract the page you want with the extract-pages tool first, then convert that single-page PDF. It saves producing images you will only throw away.

Why does small text look slightly soft?

JPEG compression is tuned for photographs and blurs hard edges a little, which is most visible on small type. PNG avoids that at the cost of a larger file.

What resolution are the images?

Pages are rendered at 2× their point size by default — about 1190 × 1684 pixels for an A4 page at the default 2× (roughly 144 DPI) — which is sharp on screens and fine for most printing. For large prints export a PDF page to PNG instead; JPEG softens fine edges.

Why is the download a ZIP?

A multi-page PDF produces one image per page, and the browser can only trigger one download at a time, so the images are packed into a ZIP. A single-page PDF downloads as a plain JPG.
