Merge Word Files
Merge paragraphs from separate DOCX files with page breaks between them.
- DOCX · multiple files
- up to 25 MB per file
- Deleted after one hour
What Merge Word does
Combine several Word documents into one. Collaborative writing tends to fragment — one file per chapter, per section, or per contributor — and eventually it all has to become a single document with continuous pagination. Merging joins them in the order you choose without copying and pasting between windows.
When you'd use it
- Chapters written by different people into one manuscript
- Combining a cover letter with its attachments in one file
- Assembling a report from sectional drafts

Limitations
- Styles come from the first document; if a later document defines a style with the same name differently, the first definition wins.
- Each document starts on a new page. Headers and footers follow the first document's sections.
- Documents are combined with docxcompose; content controls and some SmartArt do not survive the merge.

Questions
Does file order matter?
Yes. Documents are merged in upload order.
In what order are documents combined?
In the order you upload them, so add them in the sequence you want them to read. Numbered filenames make this much easier to get right first time.
Will the styles stay consistent?
Each document brings its own styling, so if contributors used different fonts or heading styles the merged file will show that. Applying a single style set afterwards is usually a quick tidy-up.
Does it start each document on a new page?
Documents are joined in sequence. If you need hard page breaks between sections, insert them in Word after merging — it takes seconds and gives you exact control.
