What TXT to Word does

Turn plain text into a Word document. Notes accumulate as .txt files — meeting scratch, exported chat logs, drafts written in a plain editor — and at some point they have to become something presentable with headings, styling and a page layout. This gives you an editable starting point rather than a blank page.

When you'd use it

  • Notes typed on a phone that need to become a submittable document
  • Log or transcript output that a client wants in Word
  • A plain-text draft to hand to an editor who works in Word

Limitations

  • Each line becomes a paragraph; the tool does not guess headings or lists from plain text.
  • The document uses Word's Normal style and Calibri; apply your own style set afterwards.

Questions

Does this add formatting?

It wraps text into Word paragraphs with a title heading.

Will it add formatting automatically?

No, and deliberately so. Text is placed with paragraph breaks intact and left unstyled, so you apply the headings and emphasis rather than having to undo guesses.

Are line breaks kept?

Yes. Paragraphs and blank lines carry over, so the structure you wrote in the text file is the structure you see in Word.

What about special characters?

Standard accented characters and symbols convert cleanly. Text files saved in unusual legacy encodings can produce odd characters, in which case re-save the source as UTF-8 first.
