What Word to PDF does

Convert a Word document to PDF, which is how it should be sent to anyone you are not actively collaborating with. A .docx reflows depending on the fonts and Word version at the other end, so a CV that is perfect on your screen can arrive with a page break through the middle of your job history. PDF fixes the layout in place.

When you'd use it

  • A CV that must look identical on the recruiter's screen
  • An assignment the portal only accepts as PDF
  • A signed letter that nobody should be able to edit

Limitations

  • Fonts not embedded in the .docx are substituted with metric-compatible equivalents (Liberation, DejaVu, Noto).

Questions

Does it support `.docx` files?

Yes. This tool is built for `.docx` input.

Is the PDF shareable right away?

Yes. The output is a standard PDF file.

Does it support .docx?

Yes, this tool is built for .docx input.

Why send a PDF instead of the Word file?

Because PDF renders identically everywhere. Word documents reflow around missing fonts and differing page settings, which is why carefully formatted CVs and reports so often arrive looking wrong.

Will my fonts survive?

Fonts are embedded in the PDF, so the document looks the same even on a machine that does not have them installed. That is the main advantage over sending the original.

Can the PDF still be edited?

Not easily, which is usually the intent. Keep the .docx as your working copy and treat the PDF as the version you distribute.

Do tracked changes and comments appear in the PDF?

Tracked changes are rendered as accepted and comments are omitted, which is what most people sending a final document want. Accept or reject changes in Word first if the document should show a specific state.

Is the PDF text selectable and searchable?

Yes. The document is rendered to real PDF text, not to page images, so it can be searched, copied and read by screen readers, and it stays small.
