JPG to PNG Converter
Convert JPEG images to PNG when you need lossless quality or transparency.
- JPG, JPEG
- up to 200 MB per file
- Never uploaded
What JPG to PNG does
Convert a JPEG to PNG. The move is worth making when an image needs transparency, or when it is going to be edited repeatedly — JPEG discards a little more detail every time it is re-saved, while PNG is lossless and survives round trips intact. Screenshots, logos and line art in particular look cleaner as PNG.

- Size limit
- 200 MB per file
When you'd use it
- A logo that will be layered over a coloured background
- Preparing an image for a site that requires PNG uploads
- Stopping further JPEG loss when an image will be edited repeatedly
How it works
- 01
Upload JPG
Choose the image; it is never uploaded.
- 02
Convert
DocsBolt converts to PNG.
- 03
Download
Get a lossless PNG of the same pixels.
Limitations
- JPEG artefacts are already baked into the source; PNG preserves them losslessly rather than removing them. Converting does not restore quality.
- The PNG is usually 3–10× larger than the JPG, because PNG cannot compress photographs efficiently.

Questions
Why convert to PNG?
PNG supports transparency and lossless quality.
Will converting to PNG restore quality the JPEG lost?
No. Detail discarded by the original JPEG compression is gone permanently. What PNG gives you is that no further quality is lost from this point on, which matters if the file will be edited and saved again.
Why is the PNG bigger than the JPEG?
PNG stores every pixel exactly rather than approximating. For photographs that usually means a noticeably larger file. For screenshots and flat graphics PNG is often smaller as well as sharper.
Does this add transparency to my image?
It produces a PNG that supports transparency, but a JPEG has no transparency data to carry over, so the background stays as it was. Removing a background is a separate editing job.
