What Merge PPT does

Combine several PowerPoint files into one deck. Group presentations are almost always assembled this way: each person builds their own section, and someone has to stitch them together the night before. Merging keeps the slides in the order you choose without opening five files side by side.

What is kept from each deck

in · intro.pptx (4 slides) + results.pptx (9 slides)
Different templates, backgrounds, a chart, photos, transitions
out · intro_merged.pptx (13 slides)
Slides 1–4 exactly as in intro.pptx.
Slides 5–13 from results.pptx with their own backgrounds,
pictures, chart and transitions — not just their text.

Each slide is copied with its relationships (pictures, charts, links) and background. Slide masters are matched by layout name where the first deck has one; otherwise a blank layout is used and the slide's own design carries over.

When you'd use it

  • Three speakers' decks into one for the session
  • Combining a template deck with content slides from last quarter
  • A course module assembled from several lecture decks

Limitations

  • Slides are copied with their own layouts and masters, so a merged deck can carry several themes; decks of different slide sizes are rescaled to the first deck's size.
  • Slide numbers restart from the first deck's numbering; section names are not merged.
  • Embedded video and audio are copied but very large media can push the file over the 25 MB upload limit on the way in.

Questions

Does file order matter?

Yes. Slides are added in upload order.

What order do the slides come out in?

Decks are joined in the order you upload them, and slides keep their internal sequence within each deck.

Will the designs clash?

Probably, if contributors used different templates — each deck brings its own theme, fonts and colours. Applying one design across the merged file in PowerPoint is the usual last step.

Do speaker notes survive?

Yes, notes attached to slides are carried over with them.
