FAQ

My wide sheet is cut off — why?

The PDF follows the print setup stored in the file. In Calc, set the page to landscape or use Format → Page → Sheet → 'Fit print range to width' before saving, then convert again.

Are formulas converted?

The PDF shows the calculated values, exactly as the cells display in Calc. Formulas themselves are not visible in a PDF.

What about .xlsx files?

Use Excel to PDF for those. This page is for the OpenDocument .ods format.

Can I convert only one sheet?

The whole workbook is converted. To get a single sheet, save a copy of the workbook with the other sheets removed, then convert that.

Are gridlines shown?

Only if the sheet's print settings include them, which is off by default in Calc. Turn them on under Format → Page → Sheet if you want them in the PDF.

What happens to charts and images?

They are rendered in place at their on-sheet position and size.

About ODS to PDF

A spreadsheet is a poor thing to send when the recipient only needs to read it: it invites accidental edits, the columns may not fit their screen, and .ods in particular will not open on many phones. A PDF is a fixed, printable snapshot. This tool converts an OpenDocument spreadsheet with LibreOffice Calc itself, so the page layout — orientation, scaling, print ranges, repeated header rows — is exactly what the workbook specifies. Every sheet is included in order. The one thing to check before converting is the print setup: a wide sheet that was never set up for printing will spill across pages, and fixing that in Calc takes a moment while fixing it after conversion is not possible.
